 John
is a Partner of the firm and has been the President or CEO with
full profit and loss accountability at four different companies
over fifteen years. He is an experienced and successful senior
medical industry executive who grows revenues and profits by
leveraging his customer knowledge. He has launched new, unique
products and has turned around under performing companies. John
has enjoyed success in large part due to his ability to
understand the needs of the customer. His career has taken him
from accounting to marketing and sales to sales management to
general management.
John’s career highlights include starting the U.S. subsidiary of
Datex-Engstrom, a Finnish manufacturer of medical monitoring
systems, and growing revenues from zero to $48M. He established
profitability after three years while capturing 25% market share
in a very mature market dominated by larger competitors.
John led start-up sales across the eastern half of the U.S. for
Nellcor as they introduced pulse oximetry to the anesthesia
market. He developed key referral accounts and led the region to
120% of target. Also, while at Puritan-Bennett, he grew sales by
400% to $8M in two years by developing and executing the
marketing strategy for a new line of aesthesia monitors.
More recently he met sales goals for Access Cardio Systems by
establishing new distribution channels and creating a new
presence in the market place. He also completed a corporate
restructuring which placed the company on a firmer financial
foundation.
John received his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering
from the University of Pennsylvania and his MBA from Wharton. He
served in the US Marine Corps as a bombardier/navigator and
attained the rank of Captain. Originally from Maine, John grew
up in Pennsylvania. He and his wife Pat reside in Boxford,
Massachusetts and have three grown children. John is an avid
golfer, biker, and skier. He enjoys photography, model building
and has coached in youth sports programs.
